Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Outer Canopy Tensile Structure by ArcShade

Case Study & Engineering Overview

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Outer Canopy stands as a landmark installation in New Delhi, representing ArcShade's state-of-the-art approach to modern tensile architecture. Engineered to protect and shelter a total span of 18,000 sq.ft, this School & Playground Shades structure blends premium aesthetic form with top-tier structural stability.

Membrane & Material Profile: PTFE

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) Coated Fiberglass was chosen for this installation. PTFE is class-A non-combustible, chemically inert, and completely immune to UV degradation. It features a self-cleaning surface where dirt washes off naturally during rainfall, ensuring a pristine white finish for over 30 to 50 years.

Structural Integrity & Framing

Custom-tailored for School & Playground Shades, the canopy is engineered with curved architectural profiles that distribute tension evenly across the membrane. The supporting steel structure is built using high-yield MS hollow sections, treated with premium anti-corrosive coatings.

Architectural Advantages Implemented:

100% UV Protection: Fully blocks harsh radiation.
Thermal Comfort: Reflects solar heat to keep spaces cool.
Wind Resilience: Designed for up to 150 km/h gusts.
High Translucency: Soft diffused daylighting.
