While tensile structures require very little maintenance compared to concrete or metal roofs, a routine yearly checklist is essential to maximize their lifespan and retain their crisp, bright look.
Yearly Checklist
- Tension Inspection: Check cable tensions and membrane tautness. Wind loads can cause micro-slippage over time; re-tensioning prevents fabric flapping.
- Visual Cleansing: Wash the membrane with mild soap and soft brushes. Do not use high-pressure washers, wire brushes, or harsh chemical solvents, which can damage the PVDF protective lacquer.
- Check Hardware & Rigging: Examine turnbuckles, pins, shackle bolts, and weld connections for early signs of rust or wear. Apply protective anti-corrosion grease.
